On Friday and Saturday we were picking black currants. The bushes were really full of berries. We have now in a freezer about 20 litres for the winter, and the bushes have still more, maybe for tomorrow.

So, I didn’t know that currants grow in Kazakhstan. The smell of leaves is so great.

Oh my! Brings so many memories. In our mökki in Kazakhstan we had all three currents growing – red, white and black. My granny used to add black current leaves to the tea, and boy the smell was so good and it tasted heavenly too. When I moved to Finland and came to visit my friend’s mökki in Kouvula and saw there those black current bushes, I was very surprised. The same berry thousand kilometres from home felt like a good symbol. Your photos look lovely and it looks like you should be all set up for winter! 🙂
